A discussion of Strengths and Weaknesses of the overall Information model design

Strengths

1. Robust Payment System

Our information model includes a well coordinated and multi factor approach to creating a strong, reliable payment system for our users as the safety of their money and the trust they have in our system is paramount and of the utmost priority.

Some of the checks we make to create a safe monetary environment include:

  • Multiple representations of different currency classes in order to allow a unique shape of each currency to prevent common issues when handling currency such as Floating Point Rounding Errors.
  • Payment details are checked at multiple stages and confirmed before each transaction is made in order to improve security for customers
  • Ticket validity and availability is checked on a regular basis too in order to provide customers with as fair and accurate of a representation of what they are buying as possible. In addition, we elected not to use dynamic pricing as this creates a very unfair environment for customers which encourages abuse of bots and other similar practices.

2. Focus on fairness

Another strength our information model has is a particular emphasis on creating a just environment where a customer’s experience is the priority, as opposed to other large ticket sellers such as Ticket Master.

We achieve this by making the experience as similar as possible for two customers looking into the same event. For example, we have:

  • A limit on the number of tickets sold
  • A focus on accessibility across our user interface
  • No variable pricing - One price is set by the venue and it stays the same for every customer.

In a similar vein, we also try and handle payment of the performers/singers at the events through our platform if possible in order to guarantee they get paid as soon as possible with a fixed amount of money agreed to in advance.

Weakness:

One weakness our information model has is that, due to the concessions we made to allow for a better customer experience, it might be less preferable to venue owners for a variety of reasons.

  • A lack of automated dynamic pricing may turn venue owners/performers away as they may earn less of a profit off ticket sales through our platform
  • Additionally, while bot prevention prevents scalping it may drive away customers accidentally as click through rates fall when customers are presented with a captcha
