A Random-Access Protocol is any MAC protocol which requires may have any node transmit at any random time.

Some common implementations include:

  • Pure ALOHA
  • Slotted ALOHA
  • Carrier Sense Multiple Access Collision Detection
  • Carrier Sense Multiple Access Collision Avoidance
